When will my coverage start?
When you sign up for coverage during a special enrollment period, the date your coverage starts will be different depending on:
- What your qualifying event is
- The date we get your requested documents (application, Account Change Form, or subsidy eligibility form)
- Where you live
For California - Eligibility to purchase an individual health plan through an individual coverage health reimbursement arrangement (ICHRA) or a qualified small employer health reimbursement arrangement (QSEHRA)
If we receive your application: | Your coverage will start: |

On or before the date of the qualifying life event and the event date is not the 1st of the month | First day of the month following the date of the event |
On or before the date of the qualifying life event and the event date is the 1st of the month | The date of the qualifying life event |
After the qualifying life event date | First day of the month after receipt of your application |
